Team Reflection
This has been an interesting quarter for The Brunch Club. Four very different people were brought together just like the musicians would be on our application. It’s true that is has been a rough quarter, but we learned a lot. One of our team’s favorite aspects of the design process was critique and usability testing. We learned the importance of getting a breadth of perspective on our work, and how it improved so much afterwards. We also valued being able to test our prototypes on people. We thought it was very interesting learning about protocol like asking open-ended questions that aren’t leading. We were also very surprised at how exhaustive wireframes would be. We learned how they need to be understood by someone with little to no context, and able to be navigated smoothly.
One of the biggest challenges we struggled with was being on the same page as a team. As stated before, we are all very different people with very different opinions and priorities. We learned that when we synced up and worked together, we did our best work. We also had to learn the way of compromise. With such a small group, disagreements had to be solved by everyone agreeing on something, and when you’re on such a tight schedule, decisions can be sloppy.
If we were to go back in time and do it all over again, we think we would probably narrow the scope of our project. We love all of the cool functionality we included, but when you’re a busy student trying to finish a large project in a 10 week quarter, you’ll turn in some rushed work.
Currently AmaMuse is a music collaboration/distribution website with a simple audio editor that allows for remote collaboration and file exchange. Although this is promising idea, we must test and iterate on specific elements (i.e., musician matchmaker, online audio editor/google drive for musicians, music distribution/manager platform) of the site in order to proceed with further development. Each element could either become their own product or could be synergetic.
Thanks for listening!
